Bios
Ava Kreider-Mueller, Ph.D.
Dr. Ava Kreider-Mueller earned her Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Columbia University. She has taught Chemistry courses at various institutions of higher education including Clemson University, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, and currently Hampden-Sydney College. She also has experience teaching and tutoring high school level chemistry.
In addition to her STEM background, Ava is passionate about music, particularly piano and violin/fiddle. She started playing piano at age 3 and violin at age 9, and has studied in the New York City area including the prestigious Manhattan School of Music. She is a member of the Richmond-based Celtic band Albafeire and enjoys exploring various styles of music including Old Time and Country.
Dave Kolmer, P.E.
Dave Kolmer is a professional Civil Engineer with 40 years of combined service in the U.S. Air Force and federal civil service.
He started playing piano at age 5 and the Highland Bagpipes at age 11. Since then he has branched out to other instruments including the Bodhrán, Irish Whistles, and bellows-blown Scottish Smallpipes and Border Pipes. Along with Ava, he plays in the Richmond-based Celtic band Albafeire. He also has directed the piping and drumming competitions at the Richmond Highland Games, and is a member in good-standing of the Eastern U.S. Pipe Band Association.
